FIA Japan conducted a survey of participants in the derivatives industry regarding the comprehensive market possible future structure. 
Based on the survey and discussion at the committee, FIA Japan issued a report and proposal concerning the creation of a comprehensive market in Japan.

FIA Japan Board of Directors Appoints Yasuo Mogi as New Chairman

October 27, 2017, Tokyo - At the Board of Directors meeting held on October 26, Mr. Yasuo Mogi was newly appointed as Chairman of FIA Japan, replacing in this capacity Mr. Junichi Maruyama who had stepped down the previous month to accept his appointment as Ambassador to Serbia from the Government of Japan.

FIA Japan held its Annual General Meeting on May 29, and elected new Board Members for FY2017.  Following the AGM, the board members elected their new Officers for FY2017.

FIA Japan Request to National Futures Protection Fund for Fee Exemption for Non-beneficiaries

The FIA Japan Commodity Study Group submitted a proposal to the National Futures Protection Fund to revise its fee structure in December 2016. The discussion followed concerns from domestic and foreign institutional customers (non-retail customers) who do not qualify for the payment of claimable assets (up to 10 million yen per customer), or the so-called payoff compensation. The market share of institutional investors at TOCOM has continued to increase, and contributes significantly to the contractual fee paid to the NFPF on every trade made on the Exchange. The NFPF considered the proposal and send the reply in February 2017.

Walt Lukken, president and CEO of FIA, and Yasuo Mogi, Vice Chairman of FIA Japan (FIAJ) signed a formal agreement affiliating the two organizations today at the 32nd Annual Futures and Options Expo.  See more news in press release.
