Chip Clairmont is CEO of ABN AMRO Clearing Tokyo and Chairman of FIA Japan. He has held a number of positions across finance and technology in Japan and the United States. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Matthew Hassan

Matt Hassan leads the APAC Direct Market Access desk at Nomura Securities in Hong Kong, where he shapes the firm's electronic trading strategy and client-facing platforms. His extensive career of over 25 years has spanned from New York to Tokyo to Hong Kong, establishing him as a respected voice in electronic execution.

His career has been defined by building both systems and relationships. At Lehman Brothers Japan, Matt was a steadying force behind the firm's low-latency trading infrastructure in Asia, supporting a resilient platform and differentiated client coverage proposition. Following Lehman's bankruptcy, he successfully guided clients through the transition to Nomura, ensuring continuity and trust. This experience demonstrated his steady leadership under pressure and ability to turn challenges into opportunities.

Throughout his career, Matt has held senior roles across the electronic trading ecosystem, developing expertise in market structure, execution technology, and client engagement. His network spans proprietary trading firms, hedge funds, execution venues, and technology providers. Colleagues and clients value his ability to understand complex trade-offs and translate them into practical solutions.

A sought after thought leader, Matt provides insights on market microstructure, automated execution trends, and how trading technology adapts to market changes. Mikio Sugihara

Joined Nomura Securities and spent many years engaged in international investment banking business. In 2008, contributed to the establishment of Nasdaq’s Tokyo office and subsequently served as Nasdaq’s Representative in Japan. Led the expansion of Nasdaq’s diverse businesses in Japan, including technology solutions, services for listed companies, market data, and IPO initiatives. 
 

Graduated from Keio University with a degree in Economics and earned an MBA from the National University of Singapore.

Mitsuo Teramoto

Director, Head of Market Planning Division

Osaka Digital Exchange Co., Ltd.

 

Mitsuo Teramoto joined Osaka Digital Exchange Co., Ltd. as Head of the Market Planning Division in 2022. He worked on projects to establish the Japanese equities PTS (Proprietary Trading System, equivalent to an ATS in other jurisdictions) in 2022 and the security token PTS named “START” in 2023.


Mitsuo started his career in the Technology Division of Goldman Sachs Japan in 2002, working on exchange connectivity and system infrastructure for the Securities Division. In 2012, he moved to the Compliance Division and provided compliance advice and oversight to the Electronic Trading and Equities Trading businesses as his primary compliance coverage area. Throughout his career at Goldman Sachs, he developed expertise in brokerage businesses, technologies, and relevant market rules and regulations.

Joshpreet Tiwana

Head of Business Development, APAC

Citadel Securities 

 

Joshpreet Tiwana leads the Business Development team for Citadel Securities alongside broader OCOO responsibilities for APAC. This involves ownership of our exchange and venue partnerships, advocating for market structure reform as well as sourcing new growth opportunities for the firm in region.


Josh started with Citadel Asset Management in 2017, in London, where he partnered with fundamental equity investment teams to optimize their investment process. Helping primarily through the effective application of data and the broader Citadel investment platform.


In June 2019, Josh joined Citadel Securities in the APAC OCOO team in HK, responsible for leading our India strategic initiatives, most notably driving the establishment of the firm's onshore Indian broker dealer entity and ultimate trading initiation in 2022. 


In addition to the above, Josh has driven multi-asset strategic initiatives in Japan and helped to manage the firm's exchange and broker relationships in the region.


Prior to his time at Citadel, Josh worked as a commodity and currency research analyst/product specialist at ETF Securities, which followed the completion of his graduate scheme at Barclays Capital in London.

Masakatsu Yamada

After graduating from Keio University in 1989, Masakatsu worked at Nomura Securities and at BNP Paribas Securities in Japan, mainly in the fixed income business.


In 1999, he joined the Financial Supervisory Agency (the current Financial Services Agency), where he was involved in financial inspections and the preparation of various processes and procedures.
Masakatsu then held senior risk management positions at BNP Paribas Securities and Mizuho Securities before joining SBI Japannext Co. Ltd (current Japannext Co., Ltd.)


After serving as the COO, he assumed his current position as the CEO in 2020.

Shun Yanagisawa

Shun Yanagisawa is the Japan Head of Futures, Clearing, and FX Prime Brokerage within Citigroup's Markets division. With over two decades of extensive industry experience, he oversees a broad portfolio including Prime Brokerage across FX, Equities, and Fixed Income and Futures, and Futures and OTC Clearing.
 

Mr. Yanagisawa is a prominent advocate for the stability and development of the derivatives and clearing ecosystem. He actively participates in public roundtables and holds influential positions in various industry organizations, including serving as an elected board member and chairman of the

 

Operations Committee of FIA Japan, a member of the interest rate swap steering committee at JSCC, an advisory board member of Risk.net ASIA, and a member of several ISDA working groups.
Prior to joining Citi, he held sales and marketing roles at JPMorgan in Japan for over eleven years.

Kensuke Yazu

Kensuke Yazu oversees derivatives business development at Osaka Exchange (OSE) and Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), both under the Japan Exchange Group (JPX). With two decades of comprehensive experience in exchange and capital market operations, he has played a pivotal role in shaping JPX’s derivatives markets—including equity, interest rate, commodity, and energy derivatives—formulating and implementing market development strategies, building relationships with domestic and global market participants, and promoting collaboration with overseas exchanges. In addition to advancing Japan’s derivatives markets, Yazu has experience in operations, marketing, and investor education across JPX’s cash equity and ETF markets.

 

His international experience includes leading capital market development initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and North Africa at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as supporting the establishment of the Yangon Stock Exchange in Myanmar, further advancing market infrastructure on a global scale.
