JPX Prime 150 Index Futures are scheduled to be listed on the Osaka Exchange (OSE) on March 18, 2024.
JPX Prime 150 Index was first calculated and publicized on July 3, 2023 by JPX Market Innovation & Research (JPXI), a subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group. JPX Prime 150 Index aims to attract investment in value-generating companies and to enable a virtuous cycle of deeper penetration of value-generating management, as well as increasing returns for investors. The index consists of 150 stocks selected from the top stocks listed on the TSE Prime Market ranked by market capitalization based on two measures of value generation: 1) "return on capital" which is based on financial results; and 2) "market valuation" which is based on forecasts and non-financial information.
Currently, ETFs linked to the JPX Prime 150 index have been launched, and OSE, which operates a derivatives market, expects that JPX Prime 150 Index Futures will be used by investors as a hedging instrument to facilitate asset management.
